The Women's Fund will hold their First Tuesday event 2/2/10 @ Essential Wellness in Peoria: 5pm-7pm

The next First Tuesdays will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, from 5 to 7 pm at Essential Wellness Pharmacy (4625 N. University Street, Peoria, IL).

The Women’s Fund of the Community Foundation of Central Illinois invites area women to continue to celebrate a new year at their February First Tuesday’s event, a monthly networking opportunity. Join us and meet other dynamic women who share your interest in funding projects that promote leadership and empowerment for women and girls. Become part of a national movement towards Women’s Philanthropy.

Community Foundation of Central Illinois Welcomes Kristan M. Creek as Program Manager

May 21

Peoria - The Community Foundation of Central Illinois welcomes Kristan M. Creek of Washington as program manager. A graduate of Monmouth College, Creek will be responsible for the Foundation’s grant and scholarship programs.

Creek brings a strong background in community-based programs and grant task forces through her past positions at the Children’s Hospital of Illinois, Macon County Solid Waste Management Department, and the Long Beach Unified School District.

Community Foundation of Central Illinois Announces Grant Recipients

Peoria - The Community Foundation of Central Illinois has announced its spring cycle grant recipients. Twenty-one local nonprofit organizations received over $53,000.

The Community Foundation’s purpose is to assist projects in the fields of education, arts, health, human services, community service or community development.

Community Foundation of Central Illinois Announces the Gerald C. Bulkeley Scholarship Recipient

May 11

Peoria – Abingdon High School senior, Allison D. Stranger, has been awarded the Gerald C. Bulkeley Scholarship. The award is $1,500 annually for four years to be paid directly to the college or university of the recipient’s choice.

Gerald C. Bulkeley, a graduate of Abingdon High School, served the Abingdon community and its young people through a variety of civic and educational leadership activities. Bulkeley’s wife, Patricia, and children, Christy, Peter, and Michael Bulkeley, established the Gerald C. Bulkeley Scholarship in his memory.

Stranger is the daughter of Dan and Nicki Stranger. She has been involved in FFA, Key Club, National Honor Society, cheerleading, band, choir and the Superintendent’s Cabinet. She plans to attend Carl Sandburg College and Methodist School of Nursing.

The Gerald C. Bulkeley Scholarship opportunity is available to qualified District 217 high school senior students. All seniors graduating in good standing from Abingdon High School are encouraged to apply for the scholarship. Applications can be obtained from the Abington High School counselor’s office or by contacting the Community Foundation of Central Illinois, (309) 674-8730. The student should complete the application form and mail it to the following address:
