A fund was established by the Vietnam Veteran's Moving Wall Committee. The money to establish the Fund remained from the money which brought the national Vietnam Veteran's Moving Wall Exhibit to Peoria, Illinois. Interest from the fund will be used to benefit the children of local veterans who served in the Vietnam War. The Wall was exhibited in Glen Oak Park in September 1990. It lists the names of the 58,126 Americans who died during the Vietnam War.

In accordance with the agreement, the student must currently reside and be attending high school within a 50-mile radius of Peoria, Illinois. The student must also be a child of a Vietnam Veteran. The award will be given during the student's senior year to further education at a junior college or a four-year university/college.

The $250.00 award will be paid directly to the school of the recipient's choice upon confirmation that the student has enrolled at the institution.

The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of the applicant's motivation to accomplish her/his educational and career goals, potential for scholarship, citizenship and leadership, with financial need a consideration only when other factors weigh equally among applicants.

The scholarship deadline will be April 15^th of the student's senior year.

The Distribution Committee of the Community Foundation of Central Illinois will review all applications. The Community Foundation of Central Illinois' Board of Directors will approve the recommendation of the Distribution Committee and awards will be announced by mail.
