Women's Fund
The Women's Fund is an increasingly powerful force for women in central Illinois. The Fund not only raises money for women's programs, but seeks to involve as many women as possible in both the raising and distribution of funds. Since 1993, the Women's Fund has provided grants to women's programs.
Grant Recipients
Institute of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Women’s Fitness for Health Program IPMR and the Heartland Clinic will offer this pilot program to help low-income women at high risk of chronic disease to engage in significant strength-bearing exercise and nutritional counseling.
Community Builders Foundation Girl Power: Plan on What Earns Respect The program will focus on girls (ages 10-14) attending Trewyn School. The girls will spend 8 weeks of their summer vacation in a weekday program that will focus on career activities designed to build personal and social skills along with intensive awareness of opportunities in the Peoria area. The funds will be used to materials, transportation and lunches.
Gateway Services Personal Safety and Sexuality for Women with Disabilities The project is made up of specialized classes on personal safety and sexuality education for women with disabilities in a three county-are (Bureau, Marshall, Putnam).
Peoria County 4-H Extension All My Money and Your Money and Your Life This is a financial education program designed for limited resource participants (Financial Links and Low-Income People). The funds will be used to provide the class to 40 people, flyers and news releases and instructors.
Illinois Central College Supporting the Educational Opportunities for at-risk Women The program is designed to develop a cohort group of 15 at-risk women who attend the ICC Woman-to-Woman Conf. and will provide them with the support needed to continue their education. The funds will be used for transportation, childcare and textbook costs.
Human Service Center/White Oaks Unity + Serenity Alumni Support Group The funds would be used to provide services to female graduates of the Peoria County Drug Court and to assist them as they transition from residential treatment to independent living.
