Information for Donors

The Community Foundation of Central Illinois is committed to delivering a wide range of services beyond traditional grant making activities to help our donors, nonprofit partners, and other stakeholders achieve their charitable objectives.

By creating a fund with CFCI you receive the expertise and services of our staff, and avoid the paperwork, time and expense of running your own private foundation. We take care of all investing, government reporting, grant investigations, paperwork, auditing, and accounting. With a modest fee structure, we are able to preserve your charitable dollars for charitable activities.

Starting a fund with the Community Foundation of Central Illinois is a simple process. Begin by reviewing your financial plan with your family attorney or financial advisor to learn how a charitable gift could work for you. After discussing your charitable interests, contact the Community Foundation to set up an initial meeting to decide what type of fund is best suited for your needs, as well as the timing and type of asset that can offer the greatest tax benefit. After completing the simple paperwork, the Community Foundation will establish a plan to transfer your assets. Once this process is complete, your fund’s assets will be placed in a permanent endowment that is invested to grow over time.
